Launch of the Sale of Ships Under Singapore Form Book by LexisNexis and SMF
Singapore, 8 April 2013 – LexisNexis Singapore, a leading global provider of content and technology solutions, and the Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF) launched the “Sale of Ships Under The Singapore Form” publication on 8 April 2013.
The launch, held at Marina Mandarin Singapore, saw a crowd of more than 90 maritime professionals including shipowners, arbitrators, shipping lawyers, ship brokers and charterers amongst others. As part of the launch, several leaders in the maritime scene including Dato’ Jude Benny, Managing Partner, Joseph Tan Jude Benny LLP, Mr David Chin, Executive Director, SMF, Mr Bart Sjoerdsma, Southeast Asia Managing Director, LexisNexis and Mr Lee Wai Pong, Executive Director, Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration gave their views on the significance of this publication and its timely launch.
During his speech, Mr David Chin also informed the audience that they can download the soft copy of the Singapore Ship Sale Form (SSF) and check for updates on the SSF at its official website, www.singforms.com. Furthermore, he added that SD Software Developers Ltd (SDSD) released a new edition of the Charter Party Editor programme (CPE) that is specifically designed to cater to the needs of low-volume users, non-subscribers of SDSD’s current CPE and any maritime partner who may be interested to explore the use of the SSF. The new edition of the CPE is available for download at http://ssf.charterpartyeditor.com/. To encourage more users to adopt the SSF for their sale & purchase (S&P) transactions, the programme is still available free of charge.
Renowned maritime legal experts and authors of the “Sale of Ships Under The Singapore Form” publication, Mr Charles Debattista, Member, Stone Chambers in Gray’s Inn and Mr Filippo Lorenzon, Director, Institute of Maritime Law, University of Southampton and Consultant, Campbell Johnston Clark LLP in London also shared key highlights about the SSF and the new publication. The event concluded with a lively panel discussion moderated by Dato’ Jude Benny.
