Circular – SSF Explanatory Session on 28 January 2011
Singapore, 28 January 2011 –The launch of the Singapore Ship Sale Form (SSF) by the Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF) on 6 January 2011 is in response to the Singapore maritime community’s call for an alternative form that would cater to their needs, in view of increasing maritime activities and maritime arbitration cases in Asia.
The strong tripartite partnership between the government, the maritime players and the associations is a unique strength of the Singapore maritime sector. As the representative voice for the maritime community, SMF is constantly working hand-in-hand with the maritime community, both in the public and private sector, to formulate new initiatives that would be beneficial to the maritime partners.
In 2008, SMF commissioned the Centre of Maritime Studies of the National University of Singapore (NUS) to embark on the research and drafting of a new ship sale form that would enhance the current ship sale and purchase practices and procedures in view of regulatory developments. Through this partnership, SMF hoped to formulate a form that would minimise ambiguities through its clearly written clauses and reduce the number of changes that need to be made in the standard form.
The Singapore Ship Sale Form is now ready for use and an explanatory session to present the form to the maritime community will be organised by the Singapore Shipping Association (SSA) and the Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF). The details of the seminar are as follows:
Date: Friday, 28 January 2011
Time: 9.30 am to 12.30 pm
Venue: Marina Mandarin Singapore, Vanda Ballroom, Level 5
The session is expected to be highly interactive and aims to clarify questions regarding the use of the form and its features for an audience comprising senior management level participants who are directly involved in ship sale. The participants should preferably be shipbrokers, shipping lawyers, shipowners, shipmanagers and shipping agents.
Registration for this seminar is free. Please note that priority will be given to the first two registrants per company. Additional registrants from the same company will be put on a waiting list, pending availability of seats after the deadline. Places are limited and a confirmation will be provided to attendees for the seminar.
